our Wines

We are deeply proud to be a mission-driven wine company that is rooted in organic farming and low-intervention winemaking. All Sophie James wines are made up from 100% organically-farmed grapes and contain zero grams of sugar, and no harmful, unnatural additives.

We believe in the highest standards of winemaking, starting with the health of the vines, the quality of the fruit, and absence of chemicals in the vineyard. We focus on quality over quantity and our small production wines are released to our members in the Spring, Summer & Fall.

We produce wines from Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir, including, a rosé of Pinot Noir, a Nouveau-style Pinot Noir, and a traditional-method sparkling Pinot Noir made from 100% organically-farmed Pinot Noir from our Mountaintop estate property - all of which are allocated exclusively to our Sophie James membership.

The 2018 vintage marked our first year working with our immensely-talented winemakers Scott and Jenny Schultz of Jolie-Laide. Throughout the year, we work closely with Scott and Jenny, and our vineyard manager, Phil Coturri - one of Sonoma’s leading organic viticulturists - to oversee the critical decisions of Sophie James’ organic farming practices.

Scott and Jenny maintain a low-intervention approach to winemaking, allowing the wine to express a sense of place and a true representation of our distinct Sophie James Mountaintop terroir.

Each vintage is unique to its weather conditions and its growing season, and so it is approached differently in the winery. There is no formula, except to concentrate on the health of the vineyard, and then to highlight the very best of what Mother Nature has provided.
